My story

What’s up, guys! My name is Kelvin, and I’m a future math educator who is passionate about helping young people build confidence in their abilities and reach their full potential. I enjoy mentoring students, motivating them to pursue their goals, and creating a positive environment where learning and growth can thrive. When I’m not in school, I love weightlifting, watching The Office, hanging with friends, and cheering on my favorite college team, the LSU Tigers. So excited to meet you and I hope you have an answer to my riddle!

Why I mentor

I became a mentor for two simple reasons. First, I know firsthand how much of a difference a good mentor can make. Throughout my life, I've had people who encouraged me, challenged me, and helped guide me along the way, and I honestly don't think I'd be where I am today without them.

Second, I truly enjoy working with young people. I've been blessed with a lot of patience, and I love taking the time to listen, teach, encourage, and help youth navigate life's challenges. Watching a young person grow in confidence and begin to believe in themselves is one of the most rewarding experiences there is.

A note for you

Hey, future scholar! I'm excited to get to know you and learn about the things you enjoy, what you're good at, and what goals you have for yourself. Whether you're into sports, music, gaming, art, science, or something completely different, I want to hear about it. Now, because I love math, I have a challenge for you. Have an answer ready when we meet:

You are in a race and pass the person in second place. What place are you in now? A lot of people get this one wrong, so don't answer too quickly! Until then, be yourself, keep smiling, and remember that every expert was once a beginner. I look forward to meeting you!

With care, Kelvin
