Planting Seeds. Growing Leaders.
In three words
My story
Hey, I'm Jean Williams, but you can call me Mr. J! I grew up in Miami and now call Statesboro home. I'm a teacher working on my degree in Elementary Education, and I also lead an after-school group called Boys Who Lead where we build character and leadership skills together. I love music, being near the water, and good food. I can help you with reading, building confidence, building leadership skills, while also just being someone real to talk to when life gets heavy. Here is something I want you to know: I was not a perfect student. My behavior was rough in elementary and middle school, but around 8th grade something clicked, and I graduated high school as an honor student. Everything you go through, good, bad, and ugly, is working for you, not against you. I am still learning that myself, honestly, and right now I am working on discipline and consistency while losing weight and finishing my degree one day at a time. If you are ready to grow, I am right here with you! We got this together!💪🏾

Why I mentor
I mentor because I know firsthand the difference a positive role model can make. Growing up, I didn’t have a mentor to guide me through life’s challenges and opportunities. That experience fueled my passion to be for others what I didn’t have myself.
I believe our children are not only the next generation, they are our future. Every seed of encouragement, wisdom, accountability, and support that we plant in them today becomes the harvest our communities will reap tomorrow. Mentoring allows me to help young people discover their potential, build confidence, make better decisions, and become the leaders they were created to be.
For me, mentoring is more than giving advice; it’s about investing in lives, building relationships, and helping shape a brighter future, one child at a time.
Best advice
Everything works for your good! The good, the bad, the ugly: it’s working FOR you, not against you.
A win I’m proud of
I’m proud that I’ve successfully lost almost 60lbs from my heaviest weight. And that I’ve successfully lead my Boys Who Lead group this past year despite obstacles and challenges.
Fun fact
I have a twin sister. I grew up in Miami but have traveled to several different states over the years and even the Bahamas.

A note for you
What’s up! Listen, I know meeting new people can be nerve wrecking and a bit nervous, but I’ve been there. I can tell you that without the courage to try new things and meet new people, I wouldn’t have met some of the best people in my life and had some of the best experiences of my life. All it takes is a bit of courage; and I’m still learning that now. Let’s grow together! WE got this!
With care, Jean
