Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be 23 years of age or older
• Be enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Have completed at least 15 college credit hours
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
• Submit a personal essay describing their educational journey and goals
Essay Prompt
Applicants must submit a short essay (300-600 words) answering the following prompt:
Many students take a non-traditional path to higher education. Describe your journey back to college and explain how earning your degree will allow you to make a positive impact on your community or the lives of others.
Scholarship Award
The recipient of the Second Start Scholarship will receive financial support to help cover educational expenses, such as tuition, books, and other academic costs.
Scholarship amounts may vary depending on available funding and community support.
Application Process
The scholarship application will open once per academic year. Eligible applicants can submit their applications through the Next Generation Scholars website.
