About Us
Next Generation Scholars is a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring, educating, and empowering young people to pursue purposeful lives through education, leadership development, and community engagement.
The organization was created to provide students with guidance, mentorship, and resources that help them reach their full potential while also supporting individuals who take a non-traditional path to higher education.
Through mentorship initiatives, academic support services, leadership development programs, and scholarship opportunities, Next Generation Scholars seeks to cultivate the next generation of leaders, scholars, and community servants.
Our Story
Next Generation Scholars was founded by Kelvin and Joybora Robinson, two non-traditional college students whose journey reflects perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Kelvin and Joybora met in high school and began their relationship. Over time, their partnership grew stronger as they supported one another through life’s challenges and opportunities.
In the years that followed, Kelvin and Joybora worked hard to provide stability and opportunity for their family. Although education had always been important to them, the responsibilities of adulthood meant that college did not happen immediately after high school. However, they both believed their lives were meant for something greater.
In 2023, Joybora began pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse by enrolling at Georgia Southern University to work toward her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), with long-term aspirations of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Shortly after, Kelvin decided to enroll at Georgia Southern University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education, with minors in Applied Cultural Diversity Learning and ESOL. His goal is to become an educator and principal who can effectively reach and support students from diverse backgrounds.
Today, both Kelvin and Joybora are thriving academically and maintaining GPAs above 3.8, demonstrating that it is never too late to pursue education and personal growth.
Throughout their journey, they noticed that friends, coworkers, and family members began looking to them for encouragement and guidance. Their willingness to share their experiences inspired several people to enroll in college and pursue opportunities they once believed were out of reach.
Recognizing the power of mentorship, encouragement, and education, Kelvin and Joybora founded Next Generation Scholars to help young people discover their purpose, pursue education, and develop into leaders who positively impact their communities.
